Re-animator - The Musical?

Yes, the musical. You read that right.

Those of you who are familiar with the 1985 cult classic movie Re-Animator, directed by Stuart Gordon and based on the 1922 H.P. Lovecraft book "Herbert West: Reanimator," will want to check out this musical adaptation.

Gordon is back directing the musical, assembling the original special effects gang from the movie to work on the effects for the musical. According to the bit I heard on NPR, the first few rows of seats are neatly wrapped in plastic...giving you an idea of the lengths to which the special effects team went to give the audience a realistically gory experience.

Check out the link below to the Steve Allen Theater in Hollywood for dates and times. The run has been extended to May 29, so Re-animator fans can still take in a show. Just remember to wear washable clothes...or a raincoat... if you plan on sitting in the front row.

Declutter this Spring

It's spring, finally. And with spring comes spring cleaning. For some of us, that means spring decluttering. If you've accumulated more belongings than you feel you need, or if clutter is taking over your house...and life...check out the following links on removing clutter from your home. It's not an easy process, but remember the joke: How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time. Take it one bite at a time and you can conquer your clutter.

Music I Like...

It's fun to find new music, to listen to what someone else is listening to and maybe find a new band or genre to explore.

Periodically I'll give you a new band, a new genre or a new artist I've found. Give a listen, see what you think.

My first pick is Tokio Hotel. While not new to the music scene in Europe, where they are a huge success, not everyone on this side of the pond has heard of Tokio Hotel. They get classified as emo or glam rock, which is more a reflection of their look and lead singer Bill Kaulitz's flair for fashion. To me, they are sort of indescribable, although they do produce a nice solid rock sound.

Tokio Hotel was formed in Germany in 2001 by Tom and Bill Kaulitz, along with Georg Listing and Gustav Schaefer. They're all in their early 20s. The review below is of their lastest 2 CD/DVD set of their greatest hits. Give them a listen.

WebAnswers

For those of use who like to make a little extra money with Google's AdSense, I've found a site that is fun to use, fairly straightforward in earnings (as straightforward as anything concerning AdSense can be) and actually does earn.

I joined in January of 2011 with about $13.00 in AdSense earnings from my excruciatingly slow-to-earn InfoBarrel account. I've now reached the payout threshold of $100 sometime around the middle of March.

The site did appear to take a hit from Google's algorithm change early this year, but for me earnings have started to rebound even though views are still lagging behind what they were when I first joined.

As those of us who write for any rev-share sites know, working with AdSense and Google can be challenging. We're at the whims and vagaries of internet searchers and their searches. But it's also good to have another earnings site added to the stable of income streams (am I mixing metaphors) if you dabble in any type of online earnings.

Check out the link below to access the registration page. It's free to sign up and the questions are simple to answer as long as you have a grasp of English spelling and grammar and like to research topics and provide helpful, well-thought out answers.

I Like Bethenny Frankel

Not everyone likes Bethenny Frankel. I do...she's ambitious, savvy, dresses wonderfully. And she's insecure and flawed and searching for answers...all the things the rest of us are and she isn't afraid to show us that every week.

Bethenny is a polarizing individual...it seems she's either loved or hated. Judgments get made on sound bites and snippets of her live that are condensed and edited into an hour a week. It's hardly fair to judge someone so harshly on just an hour of their life. Plus, it is entertainment so it's edited for maximum value. Makes sense to me.

But I do like what I see of Bethenny. I adore her baby (that's saying a lot since I've never adored any baby except my own.) I'm glad Bravo decided she was better alone than in the crowd of housewives. Bravo to Bravo for recognizing a diamond in the rough and plucking her out of the psycho-drama that is the vast majority of the Housewives of...franchise.

And on the six degrees of separation tack, I share one degree of separation of sorts with Bethenny Frankel. She has been (or was...eHow is constantly undergoing changes) the Food Expert on the eHow How To site. I also write for eHow, under Carol McKenzie and as a Demand Media contributor under the pen name of Helen Sterling.

For some reason, it pleases me no end that we're on the same site. Technically, we're both on Bravo as I commented on her blog and we're actually on the Interwebz together. But it's my one tiny claim to fame.

Rejuvenate Your Face This Spring

Spring is here...
It's been a long cold winter for many of us. If your complexion is tired-looking, dull and dry, try a cool cucumber and milk cleanser or a green tea and honey face mask. Both can help relieve winter-weary skin and replenish moisture, along with removing flaky dry skin.

Since both recipes contain all natural ingredients you may already have in your kitchen, they're quick to whip up anytime you feel the need to pamper your face. You can also make yourself a healthy snack from the same ingredients, if you're so inclined.

And while you're pampering that face, don't forget your neck and upper chest. Both areas have delicate skin and need just as much tender loving care as our face, but sometimes they just don't get the attention they deserve.

So treat yourself to a facial and cleanser and start spring with fresh and happy skin.

How to Avoid One of the Biggest Mistakes Women Make...

And no, it's not about picking the wrong guy. It's about picking the wrong bra.

So, if you're a woman, chances are pretty high that you wear a bra (and if you don't, you probably should.) But is that bra doing all it can for you and your girls?

I read a statistic (I believe it was from an Oprah show) that 80% of all women are currently walking around in an ill-fitting, incorrectly sized bra. Amazing...and I'm one of them.

I saw an episode of Bethenny Ever After... where Bethenny Frankel gets properly fitted for a bra. Now, Bethanny is an in-shape woman, with what is measured as either a 30DD or a 32F (this is from memory, so I may be a bit off, but Bethenny has pretty large, um, really nice, um...she's got a nice chest.) Bethenny has a petite frame with a larger cup size, which presents its own set of fitting problems.

Many other women have regular size frames with larger cup sizes. Again, a fitting problem

So, what to do? We all can't go to Linda's on the Upper East Side and get fitted for a new bra. But we can learn how to measure ourselves, or if that's not working, go to a department store or specialty shop that does measure and fit women. We owe it to our girls to get them front and center and displayed properly.

Moon Closest to Earth - Saturday, March 19

The moon will be at its perigee, or closest to us in its orbit around Earth, on Saturday, March 19th....the closest to Earth it's been in 20 years. This should present us with a pretty spectacular view of the moon. Check it out around sunset, when the moon is visible and closest to the horizon. Having objects in the foreground will make it seem even larger. I'm a big fan of the moon, so I'm really looking forward to a cloud-free evening sky and the chance to bask in the moonlight.

FlashMob - Central Station, Sydney, Australia

I love these flash mobs...I didn't know there was an actual name for these spontaneous gatherings. I've seen some others and they always make me cry, for some reason.

Discover Ireland, Ireland's tourism board, sponsored this flash mob in Sydney's Central Station this St. Patrick's Day.

Members of the Irish stepdance company Riverdance, along with school children, stepped their way into the daily lives of commuting Sydneysiders. Enjoy.

Stella's Bakery - Madison

Go here, eat lunch. Or better yet, if you're in a hurry, call ahead and save the wait. They'll have your sandwich ready and piping hot in 10 minutes. What a deal.

I'm having a grilled roast beef with sauteed green peppers, onions and provolone cheese on sourdough bread. Just the right size for a light lunch. Includes a nice crisp pickle spear and a cookie. It's a panini-style "grill" so you get nice grill marks and less grease than a grilled sandwich made on a grilltop, IMO.

My friend is enjoying a Reuben (in honor of St. Patrick's Day) and being a connoisseur of all things food, she deems it "awesome." She also got a loaf of soda bread, but I've yet to be offered a piece. I will update if she does offer me a slice.

Stella's is also the home of a variety of fantastic baked goods. Make it a breakfast or lunch stop on the way to work. It's well worth the visit. Owners Max and Coralia Harn have owned and operated Stella's for over 20 years. Their dedication to good food shows.

In reading the history of Stella's, it's worth noting that one owner's son, Brian Harn, apprenticed under Sarabeth Levine, she of Sarabeth's in New York, and is a graduate of the French Culinary Institute. Can't go wrong with a pedigree like that.

Check out the link below for more of Stella's and the link below that for Sarabeth's in New York. And enjoy!
